Sir Paul McCartney married his fiancée, Nancy Shevell, in London on Sunday on the day his late bandmate, John Lennon, would have turned 71.
The Beatles legend, 69, proposed to New York businesswoman Shevell in May after four years together, and they became husband and wife on Sunday at London's Westminster registry office at The Old Marylebone Town Hall, the same venue where McCartney married his late wife, Linda.

The couple received a blessing at a local synagogue on Saturday evening as part of Shevell's Jewish religion ahead of Sunday's civil service.
Shevell wore a flower in her hair and a simple white dress reportedly created by McCartney's fashion designer daughter, Stella, who was among the guests at the nuptials, along with the singer's former Beatles bandmate Ringo Starr and Shevell's relative Barbara Walters.

The music icon's younger brother Mike reportedly acted as best man, while McCartney's daughter Beatrice, 7, from his marriage to Heather Mills, served as bridesmaid.
The newlyweds were greeted by crowds of fans and well-wishers as they emerged from the venue to a hail of confetti, and they smiled and waved to the spectators before heading off.

The reception is said to be taking place at McCartney's nearby home in St John's Wood, where workers were seen erecting a marquee in the grounds of the property on Friday. Colored roses, bags of ice and sound equipment were also seen being delivered to the house.
McCartney has been married twice before: His first wife, Linda, died of breast cancer in 1998, and the star endured a bitter divorce from Mills in 2008. Shevell has been married once before.
