Report: Rick Springfield charged with two counts of DUI

  • LOS ANGELES (AP) -- In the wake of his arrest in Malibu two months ago, Rick Springfield has been charged with two misdemeanor counts of driving under the influence -- one count is for DUI and the second is related to allegations that his blood-alcohol level was above 0.08 percent when he was stopped by police, according to multiple reports.

    The rocker was stopped on May 1 around 8 p.m. after a deputy spotted him speeding in his 1963 Corvette on Pacific Coast Highway.

    The department states a test showed Springfield's blood-alcohol content was .10 percent, which is over the .08 limit in which a percent is presumed to be drunk.

    The singer was released May 2 around 2 a.m. and is due in a courtroom in Malibu for a first appearance on July 5.
