![By Rebecca SilversteinFrom Roll With Me, Henry to At Last, Etta James is responsible for some of the most memorable R&B and blues songs of all time. But on Jan. 20, 2012, the legendary singer passed away at age 73 after battling leukemia, dementia and kidney problems. Keep clicking to see how Beyonce, Mariah Carey and more stars reacted to the news. This is a huge loss. Etta James was one of the greatest vocalists of our time. I am so fortunate to have met such a queen. Her musical contributions will last a lifetime. Playing Etta James [in 'Cadillac Records'] taught me so much about myself, and singing her music inspired me to be a stronger artist. When she effortlessly opened her mouth, you could hear her pain and triumph. Her deeply emotional way of delivering a song told her story with no filter. She was fearless and had guts. She will be missed. --Beyonce](http://static3.wonderwall.com/image/wonderwall/ZDNiMDYzYjVhMmIzMjdjYjEzZTRkMTJlNGNhMDVhOGUvT3JpZ2luYWwvNzU5MjRfT3JpZ2luYWwuanBn/75924-original.jpg)
