2009 Scream Awards

Spike TV's Scream Awards airs tonight, and since Hollywood loves them some freaks, many a star came out to celebrate all that makes you go scream in the night.
Wonderwall was there to catch up with some of the creepiest (but in that sexy creepy way) stars in Hollywood.
Taylor Lautner accepted an award for his role in "Twilight." His speech was touching -- he was kind enough to recognize all his fellow nominees for the Sexiest Werewolf with Washboard Abs award. (Just kidding. He won for Breakout Male Performance.)

An awards show wouldn't be an awards show without Megan Fox popping up in a sexy dress. While we don't want to spoil the show for you, it looks like she won some sort of award. But no surprise there. When you have a bunch of sci-fi nerds as judges, chances are they'll figure out SOME award to give Megan Fox.

Dave Navarro couldn't have been more in his element at the Scream Awards. He must be really pumped that all the pretty vampires and sexy goths are totally infiltrating the mainstream, right? Um, right?
"I've been dressing this way for as long as I can remember," said Navarro. "It nauseates me, really, 'cause unless you've seen the original Nosferatu, you don't have any right to be on this bandwagon."
We told Dave he was SO right as we casually wiped off our jet black lipstick.
So, what's his Halloween costume this year? Suburban dad? We'd really like him to be a suburban dad.
He says, "I should! I should dress up like an accountant. I'm actually performing this year on Halloween so I won't dress up as anything. Halloween is like the one time a year where, frankly, I fit in with the rest of the world."

Johnny Depp both presented and accepted awards. Makes sense as we scream at, with, and for Johnny. Just depends on the movie.

We asked Jamie King who is sexier: vampires or werewolves.
"Vampires," she replied. "It's all the kissing, forbidden love, danger. Something that you want but you really shouldn't have. Does that make sense?"
Forbidden love? Wanting what you can't have? Yes, this is all quite clear. And what is she going to be for Halloween this year?
She tells us, "I'm going to be that thing you put at the end of a pencil. Like that troll thing with the hair."
Well, we're glad she's preparing early with her hair. Just a little extra teasing of that 'do and she'll be all set.

Vampire-du-jour Stephen Moyer (who stars in "True Blood," in case you've been sleeping in a coffin for the past year) accepted an award even though he was injured and had to show up with a cane. That's true commitment to horror. And canes are way spookier than crutches, so glad he kept in-theme.

Anna Paquin, lover of vampires on-camera and off, accepted an award for her work in "True Blood."

We asked "Dexter" star Julie Benz what her favorite Halloween costume was. We're assuming it was a sexy, um, something or another. Sexy cave woman? Sexy fairy? Sexy old lady? Sexy old lady.
"I once went as a very old woman," said Benz. "I wore a wig and granny glasses and had old lady makeup on and a house dress with saggy pantyhose ... I had so much fun, I went to a party and all my guy friends were dragging me around telling people 'She's actually hot!'"
Sorry, Julie, even going granny incognito won't hide your levels of hotness. Rough city.

"True Blood" star Alexander Skarsgard stole a kiss from Kate Bosworth while accepting an award at the event. Don't mind the gothic glamazon behind you, Alex. She'll just stand there, creepily hovering. Watching. Waiting.

Christina Ricci presented at the awards because, you know, she's been typecast as eerie since she was about 5 years old. Hey, everyone's gotta have a gimmick!

Paulo Costanzo, who has dabbled in B-horror movies, but is better known for his role in "Royal Pains," chatted with us about his costumes of Halloweens past. His favorite?
"One year my friends had a Halloween party and I decided I was going to have two costumes: a chef and Batman," Costanzo tells us. "I would put on the chef costume, hit on every girl in the room, then go put on the Batman costume and hit on all the same girls. And all the girls didn't like the chef -- but Batman picked up everybody! They had no idea it was two different people."
Can't deny the genius of that social experiment. Maybe one day chefs will earn the sex appeal that superheroes have. Umm, nope, actually that'll never happen. Sorry.

Go-to sci-fi actress Eliza Dushku came out to celebrate with all her fellow scream-inducing stars. She even re-fashioned a medieval knight's armor for the occasion.

John C. Reilly graced the red carpet presumably to promote his upcoming movie "The Vampire's Assistant," proving that not all bloodsucking roles demand "Tiger Beat" cover appeal.

The newest batch of uber-pretty vampires from "The Vampire Diaries," Paul Wesley, Nina Dobrev, Ian Somerhalder and Kayla Ewell made an entrance at the awards show.
I think they're required to show up to every vaguely vampire-related event out there for the rest of time. It's in the contract they signed with blood with the WB. You don't have to be undead to sign your soul away.

Liv Tyler presented an award for Best Horror Actor at the event. Don't know what she has to do with horror and sci-fi, but she looks super cute in all black, so we won't ask questions.

Keith Richards accepted an award for the Rock Immortal Award, which was presented by classic Keith imitator Johnny Depp. After 40 years in the rock industry, the guy is a true scream veteran.

"Dexter" star Jennifer Carpenter came out to represent her serial killing show. No sign of Dexter himself, Michael C. Hall, who is her brother on the show and husband in real life. Creepy!

Scream-inducing auteur Quentin Tarantino presented an award to George Romero at the event.

Tanedra Howard, who stars in "Saw VI," broke down the sex appeal of vampires for us. She says, "They're always really calm in how they talk to you. They're like, 'Come here' and you're like 'This isn't right, but I'll go with it,' so I'll go with vampire."
Pay attention fellas: calm, collected, and pale are really all the qualities you need to seduce the ladies these days.
