Ashton Kutcher Tosses Control of Twitter to Management Team in Wake of Paterno Backlash

Ashton Kutcher is making sure not to put his foot in his mouth anymore. At least when it comes to his Twitter account.

After catching major heat for comments he made on his Twitter Wednesday night in regards to the firing of Penn State football coach Joe Paterno (axed in the wake of a child abuse sex scandal), Kutcher has opted to relinquish control of his Twitter feed to his team at Katalyst Media. Kutcher explained the change in a lengthy blog post written on Thursday.

Kutcher, 33, was savaged by his followers after standing up for Paterno before he had all the facts in the case, which has exploded this week on all major news outlets.

Paterno, 84, was forced to end his 46-year career after former assistant coach Jerry Sandusky was charged over the weekend with 40 counts of sexual abuse of children. Paterno apparently failed to contact the authorities when alerted about Sandusky's misconduct nearly a decade ago.

Kutcher's take? "How dare you fire Jo Pa?" he tweeted. "Insult #noclass as a hawkeye fan I find it in poor taste."

Kutcher's 8.3 million followers didn't exactly approve. Demi Moore's husband was quickly slammed as an "idiot" and "ignorant."

"F--- you," one fan sniped. "He covered up child rape you sick, geriatric f---."

"With 8 million followers, you MAY want to reserve your opinions until you know the whole story," added another outraged fan.

Adding insult to injury, Kutcher and Moore, 48, have an eponymous foundation that fights child sex slavery worldwide.

Taking down his initial tweet, Kutcher finally explained his confusion.

"Heard Joe was fired, fully recant previous tweet! Didn't have full story. #admitwhenYoumakemistakes ..."This is an insane story, I just heard paterno was fired, getting the rest of the story now ... Wow," he tweeted. "As an advocate in the fight against child sexual exploitation, I could not be more remorseful for all involved in the Penn St. case."
