The PR war between Eva Longoria and Tony Parker continues to ramp up. Two days after the actress filed for divorce in Los Angeles amid reports that the San Antonio Spurs star inappropriately texted (but supposedly never touched) a teammate's wife, he responded by filing his own divorce papers in Texas.
His inner circle, however, insists it's not about revenge.
"This was not meant to escalate things," a source assures People magazine. "He filed his own papers to protect his rights during the proceeding … They are still committed to working this out together amicably."
Echoes a snitch to Us, "Tony is still hoping to keep this as amicable and private as possible."
According to TMZ, Eva was "very upset" over the filing.
Parker's legal move was apparently prompted by Longoria's decision to ask for spousal support, despite an existing prenup, and her public heart-to-heart with pal Mario Lopez, during which she confirmed that the NBA-er had stepped out on her earlier in their three-year marriage and had engaged in extramarital texting.
"The marriage has been over for a while and Eva and Tony had agreed how to end things, but then she trashed him publicly and painted herself as the victimized party," an insider tells RadarOnline. "Now they've had some heated conversations about that, and behind the scenes, the divorce is not friendly, despite what both parties have said publicly."

TMZ says things appeared "calm" on Sunday between the exes, but that might change once Longoria gets wind of the latest tabloid accusations blowing in from across the pond. The London Sun claims it has "saucy" text messages and a picture that Parker sent to a 19-year-old British model.
The two supposedly met at that most romantic of events -- Ultimate Fighting.
"He would not take no for an answer and was telling me how much he liked me," maintains one Sophia Egeler. "I had no idea he was Eva Longoria's husband.
She says she agreed to go to a nightclub with him and his pal, but "I decided at 1 a.m. I wanted to leave, but Parker followed me into the street. He begged me to come back to a house he claimed was his. I said no."

The next day, she purportedly started receiving the text treatment, including a photo of Tony with his shirt off and the message, "You want a sexier one still?"
Sophia claims the missives stopped when news of his breakup hit the press.
"When I heard I couldn't believe it," she says. "How stupid is he to risk everything with her?"
Parker's rep, however, vehemently denies the accusations, telling Gossip Cop that the story isn't true and he "never partied" or sent texts to Egeler. Plus, the mouthpiece scoffs, he wasn't even in London at the time in question. Tony's people are now contemplating legal action against the Sun.
And that's not the only defense of Parker's reputation.
"Eva has been no angel, either," a source snipes to PopEater. "When they first got married, they both agreed to spend as much time with each other as possible. They knew it would be a challenge with them working in different states, but Eva's part-time taping schedule for 'Desperate Housewives' and the resources they had meant it wouldn't be that hard."
But as time went on, it seems there was less of an effort to be together.
"Tony understands how important Eva's career is to her and never wanted her to leave Los Angeles and settle with him in Texas," explains another confidant. "But then she would tell him that important meetings came up in Hollywood -- which meant she had to stay in LA -- and then he would see pictures of her and her friends out at restaurants and clubs. That's when he knew he couldn't compete."
