Tori Spelling has credit card declined as reality cameras roll

  • Tori Spelling is working hard for the money on her new reality show. In an incident that has "set-up" written all over it, the budget-averse reality star had her credit card declined at a discount party store in Los Angeles while being filmed for her forthcoming Lifetime docu-series, "True Tori."

Spelling, whose new show traces the marital "crisis" caused by husband Dean McDermott's cheating scandal and subsequent rehab stay, loaded up a cart with everything from "Despicable Me" minion-shaped piñatas to wrapping paper during Thursday's shopping trip, says the London Daily Mail.

She then approached the cashier and handed over McDermott's platinum American Express card (conveniently enough, she even had his driver's license on hand).

Alas, like Lindsay Lohan before her, Tori had the card declined.

Spelling, with kids Liam, 6, and Stella, 5, in tow, reportedly proceeded to cool her heels for 30 minutes while the staffer called in the card. She was eventually able to pay and leave. All the while, paparazzi and TV cameras documented the incident (read: "incident").

You'll recall that the couple was once supposedly so broke they couldn't afford Dean's vasectomy.

"It's no mystery why I have money problems. I grew up rich beyond anyone's dreams. Even when I try to embrace a simpler lifestyle, I can't seem to let go of my expensive tastes," Tori wrote her in "Spelling It Like It Is" memoir. "And then there's my little shopping problem. ... I can't afford to live like this anymore. Our circumstances have changed. They say admitting the problem is the first step."
