Jay-Z Sticks Up for Kanye: 'He Didn't Kill Anybody'
Tired of hearing about the moment Kanye West crushed Taylor Swift's bubbly spirit at the MTV VMAs? Tough, because Jay-Z still has something to say. The music mogul tells Britain's Radio 1 (via E! News) that he understands why Kanye did what he did, and no, it's not because he agrees that wife Beyoncé's "Single Ladies" video is the best of all time. "It's an awards show," he downplays. "He's just a super-passionate person." Jay-Z, who helped break the rapper and says he's "like my little brother," acknowledges that West's behavior was "rude" and "inappropriate," but he feels the incident has been "a bit blown out ... he didn't kill anybody. No one got harmed." (And considering Jay is a mentor to Rihanna, he knows from being harmed.) Kanye, he explains, "has to watch his passion. At the end of the day, we're gonna celebrate him for his passion more than vilify him ... As he grows and matures, he has to know how to balance that, and he'll learn that in years to come." Concludes Jay-Z, "Let's move on."
