A contestant on the CBS show "Survivor" was arrested in a Lafayette, L.A. early Friday.

Russell Hantz, 37, of Texas was takes into custody and charged with simple battery, according to the Lafayette Paris Correctional Center's booking reports.

According to reporting by the Lafayette paper The Advertiser, local police were on patrol in the downtown area when they were flagged down about a disturbance between a man and a woman.
Cpl. Paul Mouton, spokesman for the Lafayette Police Department, said witnesses alleged that Hantz had pushed an 18-year-old woman to the ground during a verbal argument

Hantz was later arrested and released after cooperating with police. The woman was not seriously hurt.
Hantz was runner-up in the "Survivor: Samoa" series and is currently on the series "Survivor: Heroes vs. Villains" on CBS.
A spokesperson for CBS declined to comment on the incident.
