It's no secret that before Dwayne Johnson was a mega international movie star with a string of major franchises under his belt, he was a chest-thumping, eyebrow-raising character called "The Rock" who had ruled the rings of the WWE ever since his debut in 1996. Though Johnson says he made a "quiet exit" eight years ago from the billion-dollar business that is the WWE, his Hollywood accomplishments since have been anything but.
He has starred in well over a dozen Hollywood hits, but the A-list action star -- who for a few years had dropped his "Rock" moniker -- has not completely abandoned his deep wrestling roots (both his father and grandfather were pro wrestling superstars). Johnson is once again The Rock, and he's out to show the world why he became famous in the first place. This Sunday, April 1, he'll dive back into the WWE's biggest ring as the headliner, along with John Cena of WrestleMania XXVIII, at Sun Life Stadium in Miami.
In anticipation of the event, which will be available on pay-per-view, The Rock sat down with Wonderwall for a laugh-filled chat to discuss the reason behind his triumphant return, his fierce opponent, and what it means to him that it's all taking place in his adopted hometown of Miami.
