On "Girls," Marnie Michaels comes off as serious and focused -- attributes that Allison Williams, who plays Marnie, knows all too well. The daughter of NBC News anchor Brian Williams and a graduate of Yale, 24-year-old Allison is only just starting to learn how to let go of the high expectations she puts on herself for success. "I put so much pressure on myself to be perfect," she tellsTown & Country, looking back at a youth spent in endless pursuit of excellence.
"Between homework and sports and drama and being social, I slept about four hours a night through high school and college. I often remind myself that I was busier then than I am now," she muses.
"Something that's been lovely about the last couple of years is that I've finally abandoned the pursuit of perfection, which I think I was pretty stubbornly holding on to, just always trying to be the best at everything I did. I grew up enough to realize that the people I respect aren't perfectionists. And I was like, ‘Oh, that's so much more perfect.'"
