Michelle Kwan Engaged to White House Staffer

Two-time Olympic gold medalist figure skating champ Michelle Kwan is about to add another title to her name: "Mrs." Since her last skating victory, Kwan has been a regular feature in Washington, where she serves as a U.S. public policy envoy in the State Department and a committee called the Council to Empower Women and Girls Through Sports. In April 2011, the 32-year-old athlete met Clay Pell, 30, director for strategic planning on the National Security staff at the White House. "It was amazing from the very beginning how in sync our way of thinking is, our basic values and our sense of priorities. We just both got each other," Pell tells People. Notes Kwan, who said "yes" after Pell asked for hand in marriage in the water off Block Island, R.I., "We are working together as a team, like in [pair skating]." (People)
